Police found the car connected to a hit-and-run that killed a toddler in Hartford Monday night and say the person found in that car is a suspect in the incident.
A toddler who wandered out of a laundromat was killed in a hit-and-run in Hartford on Monday night and police said they found the vehicle responsible in New Haven on Tuesday morning and have identified a suspect.
Officers were called to New Britain Avenue just before 11 p.m. after the 19-month-old girl darted out of the laundromat and into the street, where she was hit by a car, police said.
According to police, the little girl was found unresponsive in the road. She was taken to Connecticut Children's and later died.

Police said on Tuesday morning that the little girl's parents were with her at the laundromat.
Authorities said the evading vehicle is a 2013 black BMW 328xi with a Connecticut license plate of BD98328. The vehicle was not reported stolen, police added.
Hartford police said New Haven police found the vehicle on Tuesday morning and the car has been seized for processing. The driver was detained and is now considered a suspect, according to authorities.

Hartford police have not identified the suspect.
The state Department of Children & Families said it is working with the Hartford Police Department to investigate and will offer support for the family.
"Our thoughts are with this baby's family during this extremely difficult and emotional time. We can confirm the Department did receive a report yesterday. We are working with the Hartford PD to investigate this tragic incident along with offering trauma informed supports to the family," Peter Yazbak, of the state Department of Children & Families, said in a statement.
The investigation is ongoing.
