Two tractor-trailers crashed on Route 8 in Waterbury near exit 30 this morning, causing havy delays during the morning commute.
Both trucks were going north and police said the one driver hit a guardrail and rolled over into the road just after 4 a.m. Then the other truck hit it and also flipped over onto its side.
Both truck drivers were brought to Saint Mary’s Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The passenger in the truck that hit the first truck was not wearing a seatbelt and was brought to Waterbury Hospital. No information
One of the trucks is carrying heavy workout equipment, including workout benches, and the truck was falling apart.
Both sides of the highway were closed for much of the morning commute and traffic was only squeezing by on the shoulders.
As emergency crews responded, drivers were stuck.
“You just sit there and there’s nothing you can do,” Robert Brush, of Waterbury, said.
