Police said no one was in the U.S. Postal Service truck when the tree came down at Hillside and Homecrest streets around 11:19 a.m. and no one was injured.
Eversource responded to the scene. Neighbors said they were told power could be out for days. Wind advisories are in effect and there are thousands of power outages across the state.

Allen and other neighbors said they still had their mail delivered despite the incident.
“We got our mail today, so, rain, sleet, snow or…tree falling, they still come through! We get the mail,” Allen said.
Cole Pratte was heading home from a grocery run when he just missed the tree falling by seconds.

“I was getting some groceries, came home, and I came in the garage and went to close the garage, and it wouldn’t close because we had no power, and the tree was down behind…I come right from that road, so, just missed me a couple seconds,” Pratte said.
“I actually saw the mail guy delivering the mail on the other end of the neighborhood on my way back, so he wasn’t in there when it fell,” he continued. “Hopefully tomorrow it’ll be a little nicer out, and hopefully they at least open up the road so I can go hang out with some friends.”
