West Haven High School was placed into lockdown Wednesday morning, according to Mayor Dorinda Borer.
A student reported seeing another student with a weapon, she said.
Police responded to the school and detained the student in question. The weapon turned out to be a massage gun and not an actual gun, Borer and police said.
The lockdown has since been lifted.
