A suspicous powder was found in a letter sent to Gov. Dannel Malloy at the State Capitol on Monday and state police, Capitol Police and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded.
The call came in around 2:30 p.m., according to state police.
The letter was sent to the constituent services office on the fourth floor and someone opening the mail discovered the green, granular powder, according to a spokesperson for Gov. Malloy's office. The building was not evacuated, but the area where the letter was found was locked down while police investigated.
It is the second letter addressed to the governor containing a powdery substance in a week. A letter sent to Malloy last week contained flour, police said.
