Martin Luther King Jr. Marker Unveiled at Memphis Airport
The Memphis International Airport unveiled a marker commemorating Martin Luther King Jr.’s last flight––from Atlanta to Memphis on April 3, 1968––on April 3, 2017, the day before the 49th anniversary of his assassination in Memphis. “This is Memphis declaring that we are going to carry on in the name of Martin Luther King to put an end to poverty in this community,” said Andrew Young, a civil rights leader and a close friend to King.
