Power outages, slick spots, school closings and delays as snow fall continues

NBCUniversal Media, LLC

An Alberta Clipper system is bringing snow to parts of Connecticut on Thursday morning and there are lots of school closings and delays.

Snow started around 7 p.m. Wednesday and it is expected to continue until after sunrise on Thursday and taper off by around 10 a.m.

Some elevated areas of northern Connecticut have already seen four, five six, even up to eight, inches of snow before the compacting.

Here's a look at some of the snow totals:

  • Bakersville: 5.8 inches
  • Bridgewater: 5 inches
  • Roxbury: 5 inches
  • Tolland: 7 inches
  • Wolcott: 8 inches

The snow has led to some slick spots and there are some school delays and closings. You can see a full list here.

There are also several power outages.

Eversource is reporting more than 14,000 power outages and most are in Stafford, where there are more than 5,000 power outages.

Areas of southern Connecticut are expected to see less, and along the shoreline, it is expected to be mostly rain.

It will be very windy later Thursday and Friday with gusts over 40 miles per hour and a few isolated power outages are possible.

A wind advisory is issued for Thursday and Thursday night.
