Preparations underway
Eversource said they are closely monitoring the forecast and planning accordingly. This includes bringing in additional line workers to help restore power.
“The high winds expected with this storm have the potential to bring down trees and limbs onto electric lines and equipment causing outages and we’re planning accordingly,” President of Eversource Connecticut Steve Sullivan said.
“We’ll have crews in position around the state with a heavy emphasis in the areas expecting the highest winds – so they’re ready to restore power as soon as it’s safe to do so," he continued.
Residents are being advised to get a storm kit ready - including essentials such as flashlights, batteries, water, non-perishable food items, any needed medications, pet food and other necessities.
You should also make sure your cell phones and electronics are fully charged. If you see downed wires, you're asked to report it immediately to 911. You can also report outages directly to Eversource online or by calling 800-286-2000.
Metro-North said their crews are also preparing to respond to possible flooding, fallen trees or other weather-related problems.
