Tornado watch issued for parts of Connecticut through Friday night

NBCUniversal Media, LLC

A tornado watch has been issued for Hartford and Litchfield counties until 10 p.m.

Post-tropical cyclone Debby is heading to our west and as it moves by, the storm brings the possibility of spinning up a tornado.

Debby's remnants triggered several tornado warnings south of us in the greater Washington, D.C. area Friday morning.

High temperatures on Friday reached into the high-70s to low-80s.

Gusty winds were already taking down trees and causing power outages.

As of 5 p.m., Eversource was reporting more than 10,000 customers without power.

Norfolk town officials were reporting numerous trees and wires down.

We will have brief squally rains and strong gusty winds from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Some street flooding is possible, but not likely here. The better chance is to our west.

It will clear by morning and we will have a gorgeous weekend.
