Large hail and wind damage reported after severe thunderstorms moved through Conn.

A line of severe thunderstorms triggered a tornado warning in Hartford and Tolland counties and dropped ping pong ball-sized hail in several towns Saturday afternoon.

A tornado warning that was issued for Hartford and Tolland counties on Saturday afternoon and severe thunderstorm warnings have all been cancelled or have expired.

The tornado warning was in effect for Hartford and Tolland counties through 4:15 p.m. It has since expired. Ping pong ball-sized hail is being reported.

Large hail fell in East Hampton on Saturday.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Middlesex and New Haven counties until 5:45 p.m. Hartford, Litchfield, New London, and Windham counties were included at one point, but they have since expired there.

The main threats are heavy rain, localized wind gusts and hail.

A flash flooding warning is also in effect for Hartford County through 7 p.m.

Eversource is reporting more than 6,400 customers without power as of 5:30 p.m. It's unclear how long restoration may take.

A heat advisory was extended through the weekend. That means the 'feels like' temperatures will be well into the middle to upper 90s both weekend days.

Actual air temperatures were close to 90 degrees today and will be into the low 90s (away from the shore) on Sunday.

Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely again on Sunday. Some of the storms could be strong to severe.

The main threat from the storms will be heavy rain and localized damaging wind gusts.
