Happy New Year! We rang in 2025 with wet and stormy conditions across the state. There were over 200 lightning strikes around the state with the storms that moved through.
This morning we have areas of patchy fog and misty conditions. The fog will eventually lift later this morning as temps rise into the mid-40s. Highs this afternoon are expected to reach the upper 40s, still be mild for this time of the year, about ten degrees above average for Jan. 1.

A few wraparound rain showers may be accompanied by a few snow showers in the hill towns this afternoon.
Snow showers in northwest Connecticut may last long enough to accumulate on grassy surfaces and elevated surfaces. Most of the roads should see less accumulation due to the recent warm weather.
This evening the winds are expected to increase. A wind advisory will be in effect starting at 7 p.m. tonight and lasting through 10 p.m. Thursday evening.
Winds could gust between 40 to 55 mph with the strongest of those winds on Thursday afternoon.
After Wednesday's snow chance, our next shot at any white stuff will hold off until Monday or Tuesday of next week. We've been telling you about the chance of a snowstorm, but those chances have been decreasing as weather models predict the snow will stay to our south.
