A Chance for Rain Ahead

Thursday Weather Blog

After endless days of warm sunshine, some changes are starting to show up. The overall weather pattern is very weak, meaning the steering currents in the atmosphere are almost nonexistent. An area of storminess is stuck off to our south and east and will attempt to push clouds and showers into the state. The dry air will make it hard for rain to get into Connecticut.

The trends this morning show that sunshine will mix with clouds and temps will warm up nicely, especially in central and western sections of the state. If any showers form, they will be in the eastern Connecticut, near the Rhode Island border.

The presence of the storm over the ocean will help to increase the winds a bit with gusts to 25 mph possible.

The storm should begin to pull away on Sunday which will mean drier weather and some breaks of sunshine especially by afternoon. The whole system seems to be trending east, so we are not expecting much in the way of rainfall. Clouds will come and go, showers are possible tomorrow and the weekend should be "ok".

Tonight is big night in Hartford as the Yard Goats host Somerset in Game two of the three games series in the Eastern League semifinals. Looks far and pleasant right now!!

Saturday night is looking better, but nothing is set in stone right now as far as shower chances. Florida Atlantic is in town for a big Saturday night match up.
