Happy New Year! The 2nd day of the new year will feature very windy conditions with a Wind Advisory in effect. Forecast models show the chance of 45-55 mph gust which can lead to tree damage and power outages. Lake effect snow, originating from Lake Ontario, will mean snow showers and flurries with no accumulation expected.

Windy weather can be expected through this evening as the region is under what's known as a "tight pressure gradient."

After today's snow showers, our next shot at any white stuff will hold off until early next week. We've been telling you about the chance of a snowstorm, but those chances have been decreasing as weather models predict the snow will stay to our south. That could still change, so we encourage you to stay with us for the latest!

Recapping 2024, the Hartford area experienced its warmest year on record. Weather records for the Hartford area date back to 1905. In 2024, the average temperature at Bradley Int'l Airport was 55 degrees, 4 degrees above average and more than a degree warmer than the previous record.

You'll note that the top five warmest years on record have all occurred since 2010. This is not something new, as our climate has been warming. In fact, our winters have been warming the fastest compared to other seasons. Winter has warmed more than 5 degrees since 1970, which ties into us getting less and less snow.
