It was a clear and cold morning across the state. Lows in the 30s were widespread in rural areas and unofficially, Bakersfield dropped to 27 degrees! First frost for some.

Temperatures tonight will not be nearly as cold with lows in the 50s in most towns. We'll start Saturday on a beautiful and sunny note.

Temperatures on Saturday will climb into the 70s.

It's also looking more and more like fall with high color in Eastern CT and high and peak colors in the NW Hills.

Today and Saturday will feature sunny skies with highs near 70.

On Sunday a storm will approach from the west bringing in cooler temperatures and a chance for showers. Our computer models show some uncertainty with the location of Sunday's rain (either over Connecticut or a bit farther north over central New England) so we will fine tune things over the coming days. Either way, temperatures will be chilly Sunday and Monday with showers possible.

Here a two of the hundreds of captures of last night's amazing Northern Lights display. Probably much dimmer and lower in the sky tonight, if there is any at all.
