A Wind Advisory is in effect through 10 p.m. Thursday due to the potential for westerly wind gusts up to 55 miles per hour through this afternoon and evening. The strongest winds are expected ahead of the sunset.

These strong winds are also ushering in some lake effect snow from Lake Ontario, so you may continue to see a few flurries flying about through Thursday. No accumulations are expected as temperatures warm into the 30s and 40s today.

While winds will decrease through tonight, a nice breeze will hold steady through Friday and the weekend. This will create a wind chill that'd about 10 to 15 degrees below the actual temperature. We could be feeling like the 10s late tonight and through Friday morning in parts of the state.

After today's flurries, our next shot at any white stuff will hold off until early next week. We've been telling you about the chance of a snowstorm, but those chances have been decreasing as weather models predict the snow will stay to our south. That could still change, so we encourage you to stay with us for the latest!

Recapping 2024, the Hartford area experienced its warmest year on record. Weather records for the Hartford area date back to 1905. In 2024, the average temperature at Bradley Int'l Airport was 55 degrees, 4 degrees above average and more than a degree warmer than the previous record.

You'll note that the top five warmest years on record have all occurred since 2010. This is not something new, as our climate has been warming. In fact, our winters have been warming the fastest compared to other seasons. Winter has warmed more than 5 degrees since 1970, which ties into us getting less and less snow.
