Today will be a brilliant way to finish the week with plenty of sunshine after some morning clouds move away. High temperatures will be around 60 degrees inland, but only lower 50's at the shoreline.

The updated U.S. Drought Monitor is looking better for us with the severe drought "washed away" and we have more rain in our forecast on Sunday night and Monday, so we are getting back toward normal.

For everyone heading out to St. Patrick's Day parades this weekend it will be ok, not perfect. Saturday will feature some sunny breaks and temps in the 50s to near 60. Sunday will be cloudier in New Haven with temperatures near 60 there, and warmer inland. There may be an isolated shower on Sunday but the heavier rain holds off until about sunset. The winds will increase to 30 mph on Sunday.

Winds look to be stronger on Sunday night with gusts potentially near 40 mph head of a cold front. The front will likely bring steady and "heavy at times" rain showers Sunday night. A few showers could be leftover come Monday morning for St. Patrick's Day but as of now the skies look to dry up by the afternoon. Some model data shows a few inches of rain is possible. We need the rain, so bring it on.
