Sunday Weather Blog

We started this morning chilly with temps in the upper 30s to mid and upper 40s.

Today was very bright and sunny with afternoon temps reaching the low 70s, seasonal for early October.

Late tonight the clouds will return and showers are expected by Monday morning as a cold front moves through the region. A few heavier downpours or a rumble of thunder will be possible.

Thanks to the rain and clouds temps tomorrow morning will remain in the mid 50s.

Behind the front temperatures will drop with low 60s in the afternoon and the potential for morning temps in the 30s for some towns later in the week!

Watching The Tropics

States along the Gulf of Mexico will be keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Milton.

The latest forecast has the system making landfall in western Florida by the middle of next week. Milton looks to strengthen into a major hurricane sometime on Monday. That would well exceed the criteria for "rapid intensification": an increase in the maximum sustained winds of a tropical cyclone of at least 30 knots/~35 mph in a 24 hour period.

South Florida will likely see a good bit of rainfall by the next of this week.

Here is an update on hurricane season names.

We also have Hurricane Kirk in the Central Atlantic and Leslie behind it. Kirk will continue moving east and could impact Western Europe by the end of next week as a Post-Tropical Storm. Hurricane Leslie is expected to move into the Central Atlantic. None of these storms will have an impact for us here in New England.
