Today dawned with a nice mix of clouds and sunshine. The sunrise was vivid across the state with temperatures in the 40s and 50s.

The clouds will melt away today and it should be quite warm for the time of year. High temps in the middle 70s is about 5 degrees above normal. More mild to warm weather is expected through the weekend.

By Saturday morning there's a slight chance for a shower with a weak cold front moving through. Most towns will stay dry.

If you are heading to the Rent, maybe a little sunscreen for the afternoon tailgate parties! 3:30pm kickoff and big crowd is expected for the 3-2 Huskies. Temple arrives with a 1-4 record.

Great weekend for the wonderful annual fairs in Harwinton and Portland!! Perfection!

The bigger weather story will be dropping temperatures for next week with an autumnal feel expected. Highs will be in the 60s with overnight lows near 40. Outlying areas may see their first frost of the fall.
