Temperatures Drop a Bit

Thursday Weather Blog

A cold front moved through the state earlier this morning, bringing a few light showers. By this afternoon it'll bring a relatively minor cool-down. Instead of temperatures running about 20 degrees above normal we'll be closer to 10 degrees above normal.

Even as temperatures drop a bit the fire danger will remain high.

It has been exceptionally dry this fall so far with rainfall deficits over a half foot. In fact, the period from September 1st to present this year is the driest on record.

There is virtually no rain in the forecast over the next 10 days. Temperatures will remain at or above normal through the weekend. By next week, however, another surge of very warm weather will move in.

We're currently forecasting a high of 80 degrees on Halloween which would be the warmest since 1946 in the Hartford area!
