Rain, possible snow move into Connecticut later this week

NBCUniversal Media, LLC

Tuesday continues our long, unusual stretch of dry weather, but there are some changes ahead for the end of the week, including rain and possibily even some snow.

A system will move into the state late Wednesday night and into Thursday morning. It will bring rain off an on through the day on Thursday, with some downpours throughout the day.

Areas of Connecticut could see up to an inch of rain. The rain won't end our drought issues, but it should at least decrease the fire danger for now.

As we see rain Thursday, the system could produce accumulating snow in parts of central New York and Pennsylvania.

The system will begin to move out and could end with a little wet snow here in Connecticut. The Northwest Hills and western Connecticut are the most likely areas to see some snow, but other areas of the state could see some flakes as well Thursday night into Friday.

The weekend looks nice.
