A line of strong storms is moving through Connecticut Wednesday evening. The late evening storms briefly posed a severe threat in southern areas of the state.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in place for lower Fairfield and southern New Haven counties through 11:15 pm for the risk of strong, damaging winds.

More showers and thunderstorms could develop into Wednesday night. A severe thunderstorm watch remains in place for Fairfield, New Haven, New London and Middlesex counties.
The storms may produce torrential rain and vivid lightning.
The storms will diminish as they move east and things will quiet down overnight.
It was another hot day on Wednesday, with high temperatures returning to the 90s in many areas - but it felt like lose to 100° for some during the afternoon.
