Christmas Day will be sunny and bright

NBCUniversal Media, LLC

The snow that moved through the state on Christmas Eve morning has moved out and a chilly overnight is on the way.

As our NBC CT Stormtracker meteorologists predicted, a coating to one inch of snow fell across the state, with the highest totals coming in from Litchfield County.

Most of the fresh snow accumulation will stick around through Christmas Day, giving many towns a white Christmas morning.

The rest of this holiday week will be free from any major weather systems. Sunshine will reappear while temperatures stay mild.

In fact, the coldest of the air is behind us. Temperatures will warm into the 30s and 40s in the coming days, far from the feels-like-zero-degree weather we had this past weekend.

Expect dry weather in the foreseeable future, until we get to Sunday or Monday when our next rain chance will arrive. It doesn’t seem to be anything significant, but will probably lead to a wet finish to 2024 as New Year’s Eve is Tuesday night.
