Heavy rain and gusty winds move out of the state

Another wave of storms is moving out of the state after a day full of heavy rain and gusty winds Wednesday.

Heavy rain continued through much of the night.

A school bus with more a dozen kids inside was trapped underneath a live wire in Haddam during the storm. Everyone is expected to be OK.

Several schools made the decision to cancel evening activities because of the weather.

The heaviest rain happened between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Eversource reported about 1,700 power outages around 11 p.m.

The worst of the wind has moved to the east of us, and the rain will move out of the state by Thursday.

The storm caused flooding that shut down a highway tunnel in Boston.

The storm brought between two and three inches of rain for most of the state, with a few cities and towns seeing four inches.

Thursday looks clear with highs near 40.

Winds will be gusty through the day on Thursday with winds approaching 30 mph.
